Fresh-cut grass, popcorn scented mist, pyrotechnics and cheerleaders are set to take over a major South London music venue for the World Cup this summer, writes Gabriel Stewart…
The World Cup can already be an overwhelming emotional experience for many, whether it is penalty heartbreak or nail-biting VAR delays, but now Londoners can have all of their senses overwhelmed too.
Freight Brixton will be hosting some of the capital’s first 4D World Cup screenings in partnership with Fanzone4D, with all of England’s group games screened for free at the venue.
The 1,000 capacity venue will be transformed by ‘cutting-edge’ scent diffusion technology misting the aroma of freshly-cut grass and popcorn across the crowds.
A Fanzone4D spokesperson said: “You’ll be transported from London to the heart of a sun-drenched US stadium before a ball has even been kicked.
“When combined with the seriously high spec sound systems, next-level lighting rigs and stunning screens that London’s foremost music venues have to offer, the result is the closest thing to being there without the hassle of a long-haul flight.”
The free screenings will also include DJs playing a mix of 90s dance, britpop classics and sing-a-long ballads.
Fanzone4D are also hosting screenings at three other major London music venues: Electric Ballroom Camden, The Steelyard in the City and Riverside East, Hackney.
There will be exclusive drinks packages across each of the venues and giant screens so that you won’t miss a minute, or a smell, of the action
