A man in his twenties has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a woman was killed in a pedicab collision in the early hours of Sunday morning (July 10).
Luis Fernanado Balcazar-Soto, 24 (03.01.98), of Law Street, near the New Kent Road, was charged on Monday, July 11, with:
- Causing death by dangerous driving
- Cause serious injury dangerous driving
- Cause death by driving a vehicle while unlicensed
- Cause death by driving a vehicle while uninsured
- Breach of restraining order
He has not been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, despite a man being arrested on suspicion of that crime after the incident.
Woman killed after pedicab collides with car on New Kent Road
It comes after the victim, a woman in her twenties died in the collision, which took place at about 4.10 am on Sunday.
The driver of the pedicab was also taken to hospital with a broken arm, police officers said.
A woman in her twenties who had been a passenger in the pedicab left just before the collision and was not hurt.
Balcazar-Soto was kept in custody to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court later today (Monday July 11).
