Five businesses in Bermondsey’s Blue marketplace are now offering free home delivery using a cargo bike.
At the time of writing, Yaa Asantawa, a Caribbean food shop, Nisa Local, and the Design Print shop had signed up for the scheme.
Pyramid Pharmacy and 5 Star Dry Cleaners were also partaking in the deliveries. Separately, Bell and Son’s butchers is also offering home delivery.
“In response to the COVID-19 crisis, to help make everyone’s lives a little more comfortable and a little bit safer, we are looking at every way to support local shops and businesses to serve their customers, especially the vulnerable and elderly with a local delivery service,” said the Blue Bermondsey BID, which has organised the scheme.
To get the free deliveries, customers have to contact the business by phone and place an order with contact number and delivery address.
After arranging payment, the delivery will be dropped off to your home by Pedivan Deliveries.
“What’s more, it is free,” added the Blue Bermondsey BID. “All you have to do is contact a participating business and give it a try. You will be amazed at how easy it is.”
