A free food bank in Rotherhithe has been given a grant that will let staff offer more to the people who use it.

People who use Restorative Justice 4 All’s (RJ4All) weekly food bank at the community centre on Plough Way will now be able to get non-perishable food, as well as cleaning products and winter clothes.

The food bank runs every Monday at the centre from 10am-1pm. Other services at the community centre include the free gym, as the news has reported, women’s only fitness classes, and clothes donated by the nearby Decathlon sports shop.

Alex, a long-term user of the food bank, said the service had made “a huge difference” to him.

“It welcomes anyone in need, and provides staple foods which really help at a time when finding money for basic essentials is a struggle,” he added.

The £1,000 grant came from the Arnold Clark community fund. Dr Theo Gavrielides, who runs RJ4All, thanked the fund, saying the money would have “a huge positive impact”.
