Scrufts Dog Show is returning to Brunswick Park tomorrow for its first show since the Covid-19 pandemic.
Pooches of all shapes, ages and sizes are invited to compete for rosettes and doggy bags at the family event from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday June 25, 2022.
The event, running for twelve years, is organised by Friends of Brunswick Park and features categories including best bitch, best male, best veteran and best puppy, as well as a game of ‘musical sit’.
Kirstie Lamont, Chair of Friends of Brunswick Park, said: “It’s just such good fun – I’m really looking forward to it. It’s complete and utter community.”
There will be a judging panel made up of local dog walkers which includes Star Wars star and Camberwell local Stephen Bayley.
Stephen played the iconic Stormtrooper TK421, who gets murdered by Hans Solo in the 1977 blockbuster Star Wars: A New Hope.
Stephen, who has a Jack Russell called Pearl, concedes that he doesn’t know too much about dogs, just that “they need walking, you have to feed them and they yap a lot”.
200 dogs are expected to descend on the park, their quirks all hilariously observed by commentator Iain Plunkett.
