Two men were today found guilty of the murder of an 18-year-old in Dulwich.
Kieran Robinson, 22, from Streatham and Sean Robinson, 27, from Penge were convicted at the Old Bailey of the murder of Donnell Rhule, and will be sentenced on a date to be confirmed.
At 6:30pm on July 8 2020, police were called to a row of shops in Seeley Drive on the Kingswood Estate after Donnell Rhule was found with stab injuries.
The young man died shortly after.
Detective Sergeant Iain Law, from the Specialist Crime Command, said: “Today justice has been served for Donnell Rhule and his family. He was a young man who had the rest of his life ahead of him.
“He had been at the centre of this investigation and we have done all we can to ensure those responsible for his callous murder are held to account. They can both expect a lengthy spell behind bars.”
The court heard how Donnell was with a group of friends when he confronted Kieran Robinson after he was seen erratically riding a moped around the estate.
Kieran Robinson was joined by his cousin, Sean Robinson, who was travelling as a passenger in a car being driven by another man.
Witnesses reported hearing Sean encourage Kieran to attack the victim, until he stabbed Donnell three times with a Rambo-style knife. One of the strikes pierced Donnell’s heart.
Donnell and a friend ran from the area down an alleyway, given chase by both Kieran and Sean on the moped. A witness reported seeing Sean Robinson carrying a large knife.
Both men rode out of the estate on the moped. Donnell was left for dead and collapsed on a nearby patch of grass. Members of the public provided first aid until the arrival of emergency services.
Kieren and Sean were later arrested and interviewed about their involvement in the attack. Kieran Robinson gave no comment during his interview, although later claimed he acted in self-defence after Donnell threatened him with a knife. There was no evidence to suggest this happened.
Sean Robinson claimed he had gone to the estate to buy cannabis and that he had no involvement in the attack.
A third man, Eren Inniss, 27, was found not guilty of murder at the same trial.
