Bermondsey-born boxer David Haye has pleaded not guilty to assault after being arrested as he arrived in the UK.

Haye, 41, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday (June 3), according to the Metropolitan Police, who took him into custody at Heathrow.

The charge is in connection with an incident at the Hammersmith Apollo in west London, in October 2021.

Police said in a statement that Haye “was arrested and charged with assault by beating after arriving on a flight at Heathrow Airport on Thursday, June 2.

“The charge relates to an incident at a commercial venue on Queen Caroline Street, W6, on Saturday, 30 October 2021.”

He was bailed and a trial is expected in September.
