An NHS nurse gave first aid to a man stabbed outside her Brandon Estate home in a shocking broad daylight attack yesterday afternoon.
The victim, aged 28, was knifed in Otto Street at 3.30pm on Wednesday, August 4.
Witness Simon Paul, who lives in the estate, told the News: “I heard loads of commotion downstairs and saw two young youths on mountain bikes arguing with a man inside a white Mercedes car.
“He was arguing with them because they had allegedly tried to rob his sister. She managed to run off.
“Then all I know is that they were off on their bikes shouting ‘that’s what you deserve’.”
Realising the man had been attacked, Simon ran downstairs to find his neighbour, an NHS nurse.
She put him in the recovery position and helped to stem the bleeding until police, paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance arrived minutes later.
Although she wishes to remain anonymous, Simon described her as doing a ‘fantastic job’ that ultimately could have helped save the victim’s life, saying she deserved recognition for her quick-thinking and brave actions.
“That’s three stabbings within yards of the house within two months,” he added.
The victim was taken to hospital and today police confirmed his injuries are ‘not life-threatening’.
In a statement, The Met confirmed at this stage there have been no arrests and a crime scene remains in place.
