Last year it was a funeral director’s, the year before that it was a pie and mash shop. But who will win the public nomination for a Southwark Blue Plaque this year?
Nominations are now open for the award for a person, place or building of historical significance in the borough.
The scheme was created in partnership with the News and Southwark Heritage in 2003 to ensure our local history was celebrated and remembered. Since then more than 50 plaques have gone up to mark local institutions, heroes and heroines.
If you would like to nominate a person, place or building, please email news@www.newsatden.co.uk or admin@southwark.org.uk. Call 0207 2315258 for postal details. Nominations will close in June.
