A burlesque dinner event in a Borough bar this weekend hopes to raise money for those going hungry.
The Sunday Supper Club, at the Nine Lives Bar in Holyrood Street, bills itself as an evening of exotic entertainment featuring decadent dancers, cocktails and a dinner.
Former Masterchef contestant Ingrid Alice will be helping to cook the meal made from waste food served as a series of small contemporary dishes.
Profits from the event will be donated towards Refugee Community Kitchen, which originally started to feed refugees in Calais – but now gives out food to anyone who needs it.
Felicity, who is organising the event and has been volunteering with Refugee Community Kitchen for two-and-a-half years, said: “We serve three locations in London and we feed anyone without judgement.”
She added: “We recognise food poverty is not just restricted to homelessness in London, but there are people who are the unseen homeless, people without the access to food banks and also those who just do not have time to cook a healthy meal.”
Other attractions include cabaret performer Coco Deville, belly-dancer Rachael Redfern and Maryam Shakiba, an Odissi Indian classical dancer.
A DJ will also play Balkan “bouncy vintage tunes” for attendees to dance to, said the events’ organisers.
Tickets for the event, which runs this Sunday 13 January 5.30pm to 10pm can be bought here: https://rcksundaysupperclub.eventcube.io
