Students, older people and new Southwark Mayor Charlie Smith gathered last week to bury a time capsule.
An Oyster card holder, old Samsung phone, and pencil case were among items buried for future generations to discover at Stones End Day Centre for older people.
Mayor Charlie Smith unveiled a garden mural at the Borough centre.
Deputy Day Centre Manager Jack Leahy said: “The mural is a decorative piece to show the collaboration between the older people at the centre and young people at the school.”
The project jointly run by Age UK Lewisham & Southwark and Pool Reinsurance brought together older people from the day centre and students from Notre Dame Girls School to come up with ideas and designs for the mural and capsule in a series of workshops hosted by artist Eleanor Shipman.
