Clare Balding visited James Allen’s Girls’ Prep School last month where she gave a talk about her life and career as a broadcaster, writes Hillary Chaisson…
During her visit, the presenter, journalist and author spoke in front of almost 300 pupils and discussed animals, sports, and her hobbies.
Balding currently presents for BBC Sport, Channel 4 and BT Sport.
She has reported from six Olympic Games; is a leader presenter on Channel 4’s Paralympics coverage; covered major horse racing festivals such as Cheltenham and Royal Ascot; and has also written four children’s books.
During the talk, Clare read a short extract from her newest book, The Racehorse Who Learned to Dance, and she gave the students tips on how to make a story come alive.
However, aside from how to create a good story, the most important message Clare wanted the youngsters to take away was to always be confident.
Attendee Laura, felt that message loud in clear: “It was […] interesting how she linked everything together in her talk, and how she was so confident in speaking.”
Scout, another audience member said: “It was the most inspiring talk I have ever had.”
