The Elephant and Castle pub has gone back on the market after Foxtons was sent away with its tail between its legs.
In June the estate agent chain put an enquiry into Southwark Council about turning the old boozer, where a pub has stood since the 1700s, into a Foxtons office.
Squatters occupied the empty pub to object against the building being used as an estate agent, but were removed a month later by the police.
Then the Walworth Society managed successfully to list the pub as an asset of community value.
‘To let’ signs have now gone back up at the pub, suggesting Foxtons have withdrawn their interest in the site.
