Firefighters rushed to put out a car on fire in Camberwell this afternoon (Thursday September 23).
Footage from the scene shared with the News shows traffic continuing to drive past the car on Southampton Way, just to the south of Burgess Park – even as the fire raged.
It is currently unclear what caused the fire or if anyone was hurt in the blaze. The police said they did not attend the scene after firefighters cancelled a request for traffic control.
A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade said: “We were called to a car alight on Southampton Way at 13:28 and the incident was over by 13:44. One fire engine from Lambeth fire station attended the scene. The Brigade’s 999 Control centre received five calls to alert them to the fire.”
