Families living in the Elephant & Castle area have plenty to look forward to as lockdown continues to ease this month.
Free events in Castle Square shopping centre behind the railway station include live music and DJs, brass rubbing for kids and a business workshop for budding entrepreneurs later in May.
The Elephant Trail is a free brass rubbing schemel for children to learn about elephants. Kids can write down what they discover on free crayons and paper as they move around the new ‘shopping centre’ based in the square.
Other free entertainment across the late May bank holiday weekend and school half term week includes live music, DJs and other performers. This was first on from May 1-3 and will run again from May 29-June 6.
Street performers will also be in the square from May 8-9, May 15-16 and May 22-23.
Also on May 23, the local group Elephant and Castle Virtual Community Hub are putting on a series of movie-themed Zoom events including a film trivia quiz, fancy dress competition, dance routines, and a movie medley performed by Elephant & Castle Community Hub Choir.

The week after, local teachers from Apex College are running a Zoom workshop on how to start your own business.
People who take part can learn about different types of business, the crucial importance of business planning and many other things, including cash flow, employment and where to get financial support..

Meanwhile, disabled people who want to play basketball and football, as well as other activities, can take part in online coaching sessions.
Borough-based Disability Sports Coach is running sports lessons across basketball, football, mindfulness, yoga, and dance. The sessions are from Tuesday – Friday every week from 4.30-5.00pm
