A Nunhead woman whose sister was stillborn and whose best friend miscarried twins will run her first ever marathon in aid of Sands.

Natalie Gewitzke said: “It offers amazing support to mothers and families that have lost their babies. I hope that running for Sands will help to bring awareness of the charity, which in turn helps raise their profile and will encourage others to do the same.”

When Natalie’s best friend sadly suffered a miscarriage in 2012, the charity paid for a special plaque imprinted with the baby’s footprints for the mother. They also offer emotional support and information for grieving mothers and families.  Natalie said: “This will be my first ever marathon and I’m a bit nervous. I want to just get through the race and end with a bottle of champagne, after hopefully raising a lot of money for a fantastic cause.”
