Six people remain in critical care at King’s College Hospital following the Grenfell Tower fire in Kensington.
The Camberwell hospital is currently treating ten patients affected by the fire, six of whom are in critical care.
St Thomas’ Hospital treated four patients in its emergency department, one of whom was admitted but discharged today, Thursday.
At least seventeen people are known to have died after the 24-storey tower block went up in flames shortly before 1am yesterday, Wednesday.
The fire is believed to have started on one of the lower floors and quickly spread to the rest of the building.
Southwark Council yesterday reassured residents their homes were safe following news of the Kensington fire.
Making reference to the deadly 2009 Lakanal House fire in Camberwell, Southwark’s cabinet member for housing Stephanie Cryan wrote to residents reassuring them Southwark’s high-rise homes were fire safe.
