Planning permission has been granted for a sustainable energy hub at Elephant Park.
The combined heat and power plant, proposed by developers Lendlease, will deliver zero-carbon, affordable heat and hot water to residents.
Around 3,000 homes in the planned development will benefit, as well as 1,000 homes neighbouring the site. This latest step in the £1.5bn regeneration scheme, which will be built on the site of the old Heygate Estate, will also deliver a “new community heart for Elephant and Castle.”
The energy hub site will also include a nursery, a café and a “pocket park”, with “energy-themed play facilities” for kids.
