Missing the last post may be a thing of the past, if proposed plans see Lordship Lane’s Post Office relocate and open on Sundays.
A potential move 200m away from its present location to Costcutter’s current site would see the Post Office open as a modern open-plan local-style branch with extended opening hours.
If the move goes ahead, the branch will open from 7am – 11pm Monday to Saturday and 8am – 11pm on Sunday, offering an extra 65 hours and 30 minutes of Post Office service each week.
The projected plans are part of a modernisation programme across the Post Office network designed to make it easier for customers to do business, through longer opening hours and modern open plan environments.
Regional Manager, Will Russell, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents around Lordship Lane and we are confident that this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”
He added: “This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation.
