TED CHEESEMAN maintained his perfect professional record as he claimed the British super-welterweight title on Saturday night.
Bermondsey’s Cheeseman, 23, defeated Asinia Byfield at the Copper Box Arena in Hackney Wick to stretch his undefeated record to 15-0. Cheeseman secured the unanimous decision 117-111, 117-111 and 117-11o on the three judges’ scorecards.
Cheeseman was relentless and floored Byfield in the fifth round after two right hands, but it was to the Reading fighter’s credit that he took it all the way.
Cheeseman has set his sights on Liverpool’s Anthony Fowler next.
Before then, Cheeseman is set to show his new belt to Millwall fans at The Den before the visit of Bolton on November 24.
