FRED Onyedinma is putting any thoughts about his future to one side to focus on his continued development.
The 20-year-old Lions attacker is out of contract in the summer and Millwall want to tie him down to a long-term deal.
Onyedinma has become a regular first-team player this season and is attracting interest from other clubs after a series of impressive performances.
Millwall have offered him a new contract and he is pleased at a club that under Neil Harris has given young players the opportunity to progress from the academy and make their mark in the first team.
“To be fair I’m not really looking at that,” Onyedinma said when asked about his contract situation. “I’m focussed on improving. If you keep working hard everything else will come.
“When you see the players on the pitch and on the bench there are a lot of young players who have come through this club.
“It’s really important that (players at) other clubs see that as well. A player here could be playing for the U21s one week and then be in the first team and score for the first team the next week.
“That’s how it is here and it’s a really good club for opportunities. People see so many young players playing for the first team and think, ‘I can be there as well’.
“Improvement comes with game time and growing up and learning. I’m not going to be the same player I was last season. You just have to take it up a step and keep trying to improve.”
