Safe Haven Basketball is running weekly online sessions to help young people with learning disabilities and special needs keep up with their training during lockdown.
Although Safe Haven’s clubs in Southwark, Hackney and Westminster had to physically close during the pandemic, their head coach Josephine Maignomo is still running weekly fitness classes online via Zoom.
Safe Haven works with sport inclusion charity Access Sport and has helped more than 10,000 children with learning disabilities get into sport, and trained more than 800 new coaches and volunteers.
Only around a quarter of children with disabilities say they take part in all sport and fitness activities at school.
The Southwark club is normally based at Black Prince Trust on Beaufoy Walk in Kennington.
