ALEX Neil gave one suggestion for why Millwall seem to have bad injury luck.
The Lions are currently without nine first-team players, many of whom picked up injuries in recent weeks.
Millwall had to endure an injury crisis of a similar magnitude in September, but Neil was able to pick from a mostly-fit squad in October as the Lions went on to win four games in a row.
Many of the catalysts behind that form, including Femi Azeez, Billy Mitchell and Ryan Leonard, are now unavailable as the Lions head into the international break.
Neil was asked by NewsAtDen after Millwall’s 1-1 draw with Preston North End on Saturday what he thought was behind his side’s extensive injury list.
“I’m not quite sure,” Neil said. “What I will say is: it’s a lot of the same lads that had injuries last year, isn’t it?
“The problem we have got, Billy didn’t have a full pre-season, Femi didn’t have a full pre-season, Massimo [Loungo] didn’t have a full pre-season. Nearly every one of these lads that are breaking down, they didn’t have a full pre-season. That’s the only thing that I can really look at and try and identify that’s different.
“Tristan [Crama] plays every game, [Jake] Cooper plays every game, Casper [De Norre] in the main plays nearly every game, Mihailo [Ivanovic] plays every game. Last year, it was the same players who were always available.”
