PLYMOUTH Argyle boss Wayne Rooney believes Millwall have adjusted their style of play and warned of their intensity ahead of his side’s game against the Lions tonight at The Den.
Speaking to Plymouth’s official website, Rooney said: “They [Millwall] are slightly different to what they have been like over the last few years.
“Maybe not as direct as they were, but they play with a lot of intensity. They try to run all over you and rely a lot on second balls.”
Plymouth head to south-east London off the back of a 5-0 loss away to Cardiff City. The Pilgrims have played significantly worse away from home. They have only scored one goal and picked up one point in five away matches, while conceding twelve goals.
Around 1,400 Plymouth fans are expected to travel to London for tonight’s game, but Rooney still expects a hostile environment.
“We know it’s going to be a difficult game,” Rooney said. “The atmosphere there, if you allow the crowd to take part in the game, can be very hostile as well.
“From our point of view, we have to go with our game plan to try and get that right for this game on Wednesday.”
