MILLWALL boss Alex Neil asked his side at half-time what kind of team they wanted to be after going two goals down to Lincoln City.
The Lions produced one of their worst performances under Neil in the first half on Saturday, conceding within 30 seconds of kick-off at The Den when Andrei Coubis volleyed into the net from outside the box. Rob Street doubled the visitors’ lead just over 30 minutes later, rifling the ball through Filip Marschall’s legs.
Millwall improved after the interval, pulling one back through Kyrell Lisbie on the hour mark before Jake Cooper poked home from a set-piece with ten minutes remaining.
Asked what he told his players at half-time, Neil said: “The question I posed to them was, ‘What type of team do we want to be? Do we want a type of team where we can turn up when we feel like it and do all right? But if somebody comes here and wants to be a bit more aggressive, we’re just going to go into our shells?’
“That’s not the team that I came here to coach. So we needed a reaction. We got a bit of reaction. There was still a lack of quality, in my view. But we didn’t lose the game, which is positive.”
