FORMER Millwall defender Wes Harding has signed for League One side Plymouth Argyle.
The 29-year-old was released by the Lions last month after spending the second half of last campaign on loan with the Pilgrims, making fifteen appearances.
Harding has signed a two-year contract and will serve as the club’s vice-captain.
“We are thrilled to bring Wes to the football club on a permanent basis,” Head Coach Tom Cleverley told the club’s website. “He brings an abundance of experience, quality and leadership that we all saw during the second half of the season, helping the team improve significantly.
“We value what Wes will bring both on and off the pitch, which is one of the reasons we have named him as the club’s vice-captain.”
Derek Adams, Argyle Director of Football, said: “It is very pleasing to have another player signed up so early in the summer, and it is someone we are very familiar with, from his time with us on loan.
“We all saw what Wes brought us on the field at the end of last season, when we finished so strongly, and Tom’s decision to make him vice-captain shows how much he is valued in the dressing room as well.”
Harding signed for the Lions on a free transfer from Rotherham United in the summer of 2023, and made 45 appearances across his three seasons at SE16, scoring three goals.
The defender regularly featured under Gary Rowett and Joe Edwards in his first campaign at the club, but found opportunities harder to come by under Neil Harris and Alex Neil, making four league starts across the next two seasons.

He then joined Plymouth on loan in January, before his release four months later.
Harding posted a thank-you message on his Instagram account after his departure was confirmed, saying he was “excited” to continue following the Lions’ progress.
