TOM Elliott could face his former club AFC Wimbledon in the fifth round of the FA Cup next Saturday.
Elliott, 28, has been out since January 12 when he dislocated his shoulder against Blackburn Rovers.
The centre-forward travelled to Swansea on Saturday but wasn’t in the match-day squad as the Lions lost 1-0 at the Liberty Stadium.
Millwall boss Neil Harris has played 4-3-3 in the last four games with his attacking options restricted.
If Elliott is fit at Kingsmeadow Harris is likely to return to his favoured 4-4-2.
Harris often keeps news concerning injured players close to his chest, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Elliott feature against Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday evening.
Harris was asked on Saturday how close Elliott was to a return.
He said: “I wouldn’t have thought so for Tuesday, but he is getting nearer all the time.
“With a temperamental shoulder injury you have to be really careful. What I will say is we need him back in the group and when he is fit we look forward to having him back.”
Ben Thompson played in an advanced position close to Lee Gregory against Swansea (below). Harris explained Thompson’s role.

“He played a bit higher because Swansea play a little bit deeper, they try and dominate possession around your centre-forwards,” Harris said.
“So Ben played a little bit higher to go after the ball and use his legs. A bit like Ryan Leonard did against Everton. We didn’t affect the ball in the first half in the opponents’ half, but second half we did, we pressed the ball a lot higher and a lot more aggressively and forced some regains.
“But then off those regains we didn’t use the ball well enough. I can think of four or five times off the top of my head when we tried to force a ball through into a forward run and we didn’t execute the pass well enough.
“That’s the difference at this level. You have to make those passes. You have to get the right movement and if you make those passes you get opportunities. Swansea got the opportunities, we didn’t.”
