NEIL Harris will make a number of changes to his side for Tuesday night’s EFL Trophy clash with Luton at Kenilworth road.
Both sides are already through to the next stage of the competition, with only top spot that guarantees home advantage in the last 32 to be decided.
Harris will be without Ben Thompson and Steve Morison, though both would likely have been rested.
Thompson needed stitches to a cut to his ear sustained in the 1-0 FA Cup first-round win over Southend last Friday.
Morison was stretchered off in that game, but Harris said the club still do not know the extent of the damage to his knee.
Harris isn’t ruling out the possibility of giving the likes of Harry Smith and Paul Rooney – who have been impressive recently for the U23s – their first-team debuts.
Shaun Cummings could also feature for the first team for the first time in over nine months.
“There will be some opportunities for players to come in and prove their ability and show what they can do,” Harris said.
“There are players who have been on the fringes who have had to be patient. A number of them are chomping at the bit ready to come in.
“Shaun Cummings also needs to play after recovering from injury. We have a very successful U23 side at the moment and some of them deserve a chance.
“So I’ve a lot to think about.
“But this competition has been good to us, like it was last season. I would always be respectful with my team selection.”
