A 49-year-old, who was charged with racially aggravated assault and provocation in Rotherhithe, has been granted bail ahead of his trial.
Peter-John Haworth, of Harringay Road, Haringey, pleaded not guilty to the two charges when he appeared at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court last Thursday morning.
He was accused of hitting twice with his bag and of using racially-abusive language in an unprovoked attack on January 28 in Deal Porters Way.
He was released on bail with the condition that he does not contact the alleged victim.
His trial was listed for April 17 at Greenwich Magistrates Court.
