NEIL Harris praised defender Mahlon Romeo for his reaction to his mistake that gifted Cardiff their goal in the sides’ 1-1 draw last Friday night.
Romeo, who was booked after just two minutes, lost possession in the fourth minute to Junior Hoilett who ran on to fire past Jordan Archer.
But Romeo and Millwall battled back and equalised through Lee Gregory.
Harris highlighted Romeo’s character and was also pleased with his players’ reaction.
“The response of Mahlon after a dodgy four minutes was top, top drawer. And the response of the players to Mahlon was really good,” Harris said.
“You’re looking at him going, ‘right son, what have you got, where is your character?’ The moment Hoilett put the ball in the back of the net you saw Mahlon’s reaction and he was gutted, because he cares, he knows he made an error, he is an honest boy.
“What really impressed me is the players got round him and for 10 minutes Mahlon kept it really simple and the fans stuck with him. He got better and better as the game went on.
“He is a modern-day, attack-minded full-back and he made a slight error. He got punished and at this level you get punished. The league below that goes in row Z and there’s no problem with it, it’s forgotten.
“I was really pleased with his reaction and with his team-mates’ reaction. I thought Friday summed us up.”
