NEIL Harris will make a number of changes for Tuesday night’s friendly at Colchester United as he works towards settling on a first-choice line-up before the season-opener against Middlesbrough on Saturday week.
Ben Amos should feature against the League Two side, while Harris could name a completely different and strong-looking midfield and back four.
Byron Webster, Murray Wallace, James Meredith, George Saville and Ryan Tunnicliffe should all start against John McGreal’s side.
Millwall have two friendlies left after Tuesday, Jimmy Abdou’s testimonial at The Den on Saturday and against Welling the following Monday, which could see a mix of some senior and younger players.
“I wouldn’t go as far as saying everyone who didn’t start [Saturday] will start on Tuesday, because that won’t be the case,” Harris said after Saturday’s 2-0 win at Cambridge United.
“The majority of the players that didn’t start will start on Tuesday. We’re still in the realms of going into the game making sure everyone gets the minutes desired.
“Then we will get the chance to fine-tune it on Saturday against Bochum in Jimmy’s game, and Monday at Welling if need be.
“This is still very much pre-season, if there is still rustiness in some of the play then no problem.”
Colchester have two recent ex-Millwall players in their squad, defenders Paul Rooney and Noah Chesmain.
