South Londoners are being encouraged to get out and active in Burgess Park this summer.
Charity Mason Mile, which is sponsored by Sport England, is hosting a free event on Sunday August 1 in the park to help people who may not already be doing regular exercise understand how getting fit can be enjoyable. The event was originally planned for July 11, but the delayed easing of Covid-19 restrictions meant it had to be pushed back.
The family day includes fun workouts, scavenger hunts for kids, interactive nature miles where people can learn about flora and fauna while exercising, and health and wellbeing information services.
The event will also include other games for kids and a competition to create the best mascot. ‘Mascot design packs’ will be available on the day for children to get creative. The winner will get a chance to work with a professional designer to finalise the concept.
The event runs from 11am-2pm. For more information go to www.themasonmile.com
