MASON Bennett is promising Millwall’s “passionate” fans “100 per cent commitment” – as he targets a place in the play-offs and a permanent move to the club in the summer.
Bennett is in line to make his debut in front of the live Sky Sports cameras against West Brom at The Den on Sunday.
Bennett has recovered from the ankle injury that has kept him out of competitive action since last November.
“I got injured at an unfortunate time but I wanted to get ready because I knew this opportunity was coming along,” Bennett said. “I’m glad it got over the line and I’m finally here.
“I’ve seen from afar the team are doing well here. I kept in touch with Pearcey [Alex Pearce] since he left Derby. As soon as I heard about the interest I was really keen to get down here.
“I really needed a fresh start and to get my career up and running again.
“I haven’t played a match yet so that’s the next step, but in terms of training I feel fine. My ankle’s been great and I’m really looking forward to getting down to The Den and getting started.
“I want to do my best here and try to help the team secure play-offs. Who knows what can happen in the summer but until then I want to work hard for this club.
“I know the fans are really passionate and they want to see 100 per cent commitment and work rate. That’s me down to a tee, I’ve always worked hard and given 100 per cent.
“I’ve seen how passionate the fans are – ‘nobody likes Millwall!’ – so it’s nice to have that and be a unit together.”
