NORWICH City’s supporters will expect their side to “stroll past Millwall” on Saturday – but Lions boss Neil Harris is determined that won’t happen.
Harris revealed he “spoke some harsh words” to his side after their 2-0 defeat at Brentford last Saturday, and now expects the squad to react in the right way after a sixth away loss of the season.
Harris stressed it is not the “Millwall way” to let teams roll them over, ahead of a significant challenge for his players against a team that have won eight of their last 10 league games, a run that has lifted them from 17th to second in the Championship table.
“They’ve done exceptionally well the last couple of months but that’s an even greater challenge for us. It makes it a more exciting challenge,” Harris said.
“On Saturday 25,000 Norwich fans are going to turn up expecting their team to stroll past Millwall on Saturday. Well the Millwall way is not to let that happen.
“A reaction to a disappointing performance is key now. My teams do react and they will react. I look forward to it again, I look forward to it probably more than any game of the season because I spoke some harsh words to the players, to them and to the press, and they have got to respond to their manager now.
“I look forward to seeing what my group’s got again on the back of that. What a great game to have. You go to Norwich, who are flying, and we’ve got to go and be at our best.”
Millwall are attempting to end a 50-year wait for a win at Carrow Road.
