NEIL Harris has identified Fernando Forestieri and Barry Bannon as two threats to Millwall’s hopes of getting their first away win of the season at Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday evening.
Wednesday had been under a transfer embargo for most of the summer until it was lifted at the end of last week, and have yet to make any first-team signings.
The Owls could only finish 15th in the Championship table last season, but still have the bulk of the side that reached the play-off semi-finals the previous campaign under Carlos Carvalhal.
Jos Luhukay’s side are without a win in the league this season. They lost 2-0 at Brentford on Sunday, a game Harris was at ahead of tomorrow night’s fixture at Hillsborough, where his Lions side lost 2-1 last season (above), when Carvalhal was in charge of the hosts.
“For Jos it’s been hugely frustrating, I guess, he’s not been able to bring in players,” Harris said. “But fortunately for him he’s got a big squad with some very, very good players.
“He has a group of players that didn’t perform to the levels expected last year but just missed out on promotion to the Premier League the year before. It’s a very similar group to that and he’s got the players to get results.
“I saw them personally at Brentford and going forward they are really impressive, they’ve got some excellent footballers. In [Fernando] Forestieri and [Barry] Bannon he’s got two of the best players in the Championship, in my opinion.
“Obviously there’s not something quite right there having a transfer embargo for a long time, though it’s been lifted so they can add to the group.
“We’ve got to make sure we focus on what we’re good at and we try to make it an uncomfortable evening for them.”
