BEN Thompson got the better of Tom King in a New Year’s Day clash between League One’s top and bottom sides.
Ronan Curtis scored in the 80th minute to give Pompey a 2-1 win over AFC Wimbledon which leaves Kenny Jackett’s side five points clear of Luton.
The Dons are five points off safety.
Also in the third tier, Fred Onyedinma’s Wycombe slumped to a 2-0 home defeat to Coventry. The Chairboys fall to 14th in the table.
In League Two, Sid Nelson was involved in a controversial moment when he appeared to tackle Exeter’s Matty Jay outside the area. A penalty was given and scored and Swindon went on to lose 2-0, Nelson departing before the break.
And in National League South, Danny McNamara was an unused substitute in Welling United’s 1-0 defeat at Dartford.
