NEWPORT County had lost six successive games before the arrival of Sid Nelson on loan from Millwall, but the 21-year-old defender helped his League Two side make it six unbeaten as the Exiles drew 0-0 at home to Grimsby Town.
The result on Tuesday night still leaves Newport bottom of the table, four points off safety.
But a third clean sheet in their last five games with Nelson in their defence has given them a chance to beat the drop from the Football League.
