MILLWALL will face south London rivals Crystal Palace in a friendly before the start of the season as part of their preparations for the 2020-2021 Championship campaign.
Gary Rowett’s men travel to Edinburgh this week for their pre-season training camp where they’ll come up against Scottish Premiership Hearts in a friendly before returning home to play a host of Football League sides and finish up against Palace – in what will be their meeting since a goalless draw at The Den in April 2013.
The Lions boss told Millwall’s official website: “It’s always important to get the players together for a period, even if it’s a short one. It would be easy to do nothing, and it will be hard to go somewhere in Europe given the regulations, so we’re going to Scotland.
“It’s a really good camp. It’s the national training centre, so the facilities are really good. It’s an opportunity for Troy [Parrott] to bed into the group and get to know the players a bit more and it’s an opportunity to get the work in. I think it will be good for us to get away, just for a few days, and get a sustained amount of work in.
“Once that is done, we are back here and ready to prepare for the season.
“The challenges ramp up in terms of the level of opposition, where we end up playing Crystal Palace and then our Carabao Cup game almost as a last friendly. That will be a competitive game that we will want to win, though.”
