MILLWALL boss Neil Harris admitted it will be difficult to predict Watford’s likely line-up and system ahead of their FA Cup clash on Sunday – but insisted his side would stick to their “basic principles”.
Millwall comfortably defeated a second-string AFC Bournemouth 3-0 at The Den in the third round.
Watford boss Walter Mazzarri made six changes to his team against Burton in the last round, a 2-0 win, from the one that had lost to Stoke in their previous league game.
With Premier League survival Watford’s priority this season, Mazzarri could alter the side that drew 2-2 at Bournemouth last Saturday with a trip to Arsenal looming two days after this weekend’s showdown.
“They can play 3-4-3, 3-5-2, but they can play 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 also,” Harris said. “Will they change for us? We don’t know.
“What we can focus on is the same as we found last Saturday against Bradford when they changed their formation at the last minute, and that’s what we’re good at and stopping the opposition.
“Yes we can adjust what we do but our basic principles are our work ethic, the way we defend and then the main focus becomes how we can hurt the opposition.”
Meanwhile, recently recruited Lions winger Jed Wallace believes no team will relish facing Millwall at The Den as he looked forward to his first involvement in the competition since Portsmouth’s 1-0 defeat to Aldershot in a first-round replay in November 2014.
“These are the games you want to be involved in,” he said. “To be honest, I haven’t really come here to be involved in the FA Cup but it’s a bonus to be in it.
“I said to my friends, people don’t really want to come down to The Den and play. We’re on top of people, we’re going to be in people’s faces. It’s not ideal for any team in any division. They’re going to have to be on it, they can’t just come down and walk around, because we’re going to be giving it one hundred and ten per cent.
“It’s a lot of games in February, everyone is going to be playing and we’ve got to pull in the same direction.”
