JEM Karacan could make his second Millwall debut in the second round of the EFL Cup against Plymouth at The Den on Wednesday evening.
Karacan – who played seven games for the Lions in 2007-08 – wasn’t expected to be involved until after the international break, but since the last round Ben Thompson has moved to Portsmouth and Shaun Hutchinson and George Saville are ruled out.
Ben Amos is set to start in goal after his penalty heroics against Gillingham. Shane Ferguson and Jiri Skalak will hope to start.
Byron Webster will also play just his second senior game since last September. Tom Bradshaw is cup-tied.
Karacan’s last game was for Bolton on April 7.
“Jem did some minutes last week with the under-23s but it’s still early days,” Lions boss Neil Harris said. “We’ll probably assess him in training [Tuesday] and see where we’re at then as to whether he can come in.
“The squad’s in a semi-good place. Obviously we know that Hutch is out for a sustained period. George Saville is still concussed. We are a couple of bodies short.
“We want to keep some sort of consistency to the team with a cohesive unit as much as possible. We want to try to get that balance between who can go three times in a week and who needs that rest.”
Plymouth won 1-0 at Bristol City in the last round, but are coming off the back of a 5-1 home defeat to Peterborough in League One at the weekend.
Possible Millwall XI
