MILLWALL face League One strugglers Chesterfield on Tuesday night at The Den after beating their third Premier League team in the FA Cup in 2017 on Saturday, Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City.
The hosts were under a lot of pressure for long periods, and a man-of-the-match performance from Jordan Archer as well as Shaun Cummings’ dramatic late finish ensured the Lions’ passage.
But it’s back to the bread and butter of league action after that high. Chesterfield currently sit in the relegation zone, in 23rd place. They will be hoping to overcome a Millwall side who have not conceded in six games and are 13 unbeaten.
The Spireites have not won since the January 14, and have conceded six goals in their last three games.
Lucas Ball spoke to Chesterfield fan Marcia Bigg ahead of Tuesday’s all-important clash in south London:
Why do you support Chesterfield?: I’m a fairly new Chesterfield supporter. My eight-year-old son came home from school one day with a letter from CFC offering an adult for £10 and a child ticket for free. That was nine years ago now and we’ve been season ticket holders since we moved to the Proact Stadium!
Currently, Chesterfield are second bottom in the league, do you think you will stay up?: Unfortunately with 14 game to go, we would need seven wins and we’ve only managed seven wins all season. But never say never until it’s mathematically certain. We have a small chance still.
Millwall haven’t conceded in more than nine hours of football, will Chesterfield be the team to break that run?: It would be nice to be the team that breaks a run, rather than the team that has a run broken against them. Although we’ve only scored four goals since the start of the year, I think we could do it.
Who will Millwall have to look out for from the Chesterfield side?: Likewise, who will the Spireites have to be wary of in Neil Harris’ squad?: To be honest at the moment our best player has been Ian Evatt. We’ve had a few new players in like David Faupala from Manchester City on loan, and he is also up there.
From your side, I think we have to look out for Steve Morison, he always has a goal in him and leads the line well for you.
Finally, a score prediction?: I’d have to go for 3-1 to Millwall as I really can’t see where our next win is coming from. The only thing that we can hope for is an FA Cup hangover.
