Staff from a Dulwich school have raised £13,000 and counting in memory of a student who died from a rare form of blood cancer.
Twenty teachers from The Charter School North Dulwich cycled 54 miles from London to Brighton on Saturday, September 19, to raise funds for research into new treatments.
Ruby Fuller (pictured) died in May this year just weeks after being told her cancer, which had been in remission, had returned.
She was first diagnosed with T-cell lymphoblastic non-Hodgkins lymphoma in July 2019, at just seventeen years of age, and underwent several rounds of gruelling radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and a stem cell transplant.
The funds will be donated to The Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group.
Sadly, a staff member taking part was involved in a serious accident during the challenge and was in hospital in a ‘serious but stable’ condition.
An update posted on the school’s website explained: “The school is supporting their family and all our thoughts and good wishes are with them for a speedy recovery.”
