The Herne Hill Halloween celebration is officially back after its organisers raised £3,000 – marking its return after a four-year hiatus.
The free event, featuring a ghoulish ghost trail, bewitched biscuit decorating and a devilish disco, will take place at Station Square and Station Hall on October 31.
The return marks the end of a four-year hiatus for the much-loved community get-together, which was a seasonal staple before it was first cancelled in 2020 due to Covid-19.
A spokesperson for community group the Herne Hill Forum, which is organising the event, said: “Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve reached our first Crowdfunder goal for the Herne Hill Halloween 2023 Celebration in Herne Hill! Special thanks to Lambeth Council who pledged a fang-tastic £1,500.
“We now need to gather a horde of helpers for the event! There is set-up to be done (3-5pm), spooky stalls to be run (5-7pm) and ghastly cleanup (7-8pm), we promise it’s fun!”
As well as all the usual spooky fun, visitors can expect arts and crafts, extravagant decorations and even a magician.
The Herne Hill Halloween Celebration 2023 will take place at the area around Herne Hill Station and Station Hall from 5pm until 7pm on Tuesday, October 31. The crowdfunder is still open and people can donate here.
