STEVE Morison admits Wednesday night’s clash with rivals Charlton is Millwall’s biggest game of the season – but only because it’s the next one.
Millwall’s loss at Scunthorpe was their second in a row in the league, while the Addicks have yet to win in five games under Karl Robinson.
Morison is wary of building the fixture up too much, however, because he believes players should approach every game with the same hunger and commitment.
“It’s the biggest game because it’s our next game,” Morison said. “I won’t be any more disappointed if we lose on Wednesday than I was on Saturday. If you are then you need to have a look at yourself.
“Yes, it’s a big game, and it’s a big game for the fans. But for us it’s another three points and whether we win it five-nil or one-nil we still get the same amount of points, and we still lose the same amount of points if we don’t win.
“We have to win and, yeah, it might give us a little bit of a boost going into the next games, but there’s enough pressure on us already. So I don’t need to sit here and put any more pressure on the lads. It’s a game we need to win and people need to pull themselves up from where they are mentally at the minute and get themselves ready for another game of football on Wednesday.
“We can’t dwell on it, we’ve lost two games. Anyone would think we were Bury on the back of a 12-game losing streak. We lost those games, we didn’t want to lose those games and we’ve let ourselves get down.”
Morison expects an electric atmosphere on Wednesday night, with Charlton bringing more than 2,000 fans to SE16.
He said: “We’ve got Charlton in front of a big crowd at The Den. That’s something we don’t have often so we’ve got to enjoy it.
“If you get a good crowd and a positive crowd it can sound like twenty five, thirty thousand people in there, it’s great fun. Them bringing a few will create an atmosphere already, its’ going to be different to what we’ve been used to this season because it’s been pretty flat at The Den.
“On Wednesday it’ll start with a positive atmosphere, it’s not something we’ll need to try to create.”
