JED Wallace wants to see a full house at The Den on Good Friday – and believes the connection between fans and the team has never been so good.
The Lions face Nottingham Forest in the first fixture of an Easter double-header, and Wallace hopes the side will be inspired to better what he believes has been their best performance this season.
According to the winger that was the September 1-0 win over Leeds in front of 16,477 at The Den, the second-highest home attendance this season.
Forest have an allocation of just over 2,000 for the fixture, and Lions supporters are certain to fill up the other three stands to see if their side can keep up their top-six charge.
Wallace feels that backing will contribute to making it a difficult afternoon for Aitor Karanka’s side.
“As you saw last season in the FA Cup, when The Den is full and the crowd are behind us it’s so difficult for any opposition to play,” Wallace said.
“Leeds at home was probably the best performance of the season. We had a full house behind us and we battered them for 90 minutes. What a day that was in the sunshine, and hopefully this Friday will be the same.
“I’d love to see it [full]. The season we’ve had we should be getting more fans and that’s not a criticism, because they make great noise. It’s one of those stadiums that’s similar to [Portsmouth’s] Fratton Park where you get 12/13,000 and it feels like there’s 40,000 in there.
“They should get behind us and they will get behind us because we’ve given them a lot of good times this season. On the road they’ve been unbelievable.
“I’ve said it before that you could throw anyone into the changing room and they’d love it. There hasn’t been more of a connection between the fans and a Millwall team.
“If I were a Millwall fan I’d love this changing room.”
Millwall will be hoping to pick up another three points to put themselves in a position to take advantage of any slips above them.
“I said to Willo [Shaun Williams] and Sav [George Saville] before the game at Barnsley, ‘this should have been a massive game in terms of relegation’. You would have looked at it in August and thought that it could be a massive six-pointer. For us it was massive to get us nearer the play-offs.
“It’s brilliant, it’s an unbelievable achievement.”
