BOLTON goalkeeper Ben Alnwick believes his side can end their goal drought at Millwall.
The Trotters haven’t scored in their last four games and have just one goal in seven ahead of their trip to The Den on Saturday.
They have netted 11 times this season, half of Millwall’s total, but otherwise the two clubs’ league records are identical with four wins, four draws and nine defeats.
Phil Parkinson signed Josh Magennis from Charlton in the summer and the striker scored four goals in his first seven league games but none in his last 10.
Former Dulwich Hamlet attacking midfielder Erhun Oztumer hasn’t scored in the league, after 17 goals in all competitions for Walsall last season.
Sammy Ameobi made his comeback recently after almost two months out, and he scored in Bolton’s 2-0 win at Millwall in the 2016-17 League One season.
“I know we’ve got it in us to score more goals than we have been doing. I look at Ozzie (Erhun Oztumer), who I played with at Peterborough, and I know his finishing is top drawer,” Alnwick told The Bolton News.
“Josh started the season like a house on fire and showed he can score goals at this level. But all strikers go through these spells, and it’s just a case of keep doing the right things and it’ll turn for you.
“We’re on a tough run. But we’re on a tough run together and there’s no use pointing at the strikers and saying it’s not going right. We’ve all got to work through it.”
“Sammy coming back in for us is huge. It doesn’t need to be a worldie. We’d take a goal off someone’s backside at the moment, it can be as scruffy as you like. But we have to keep faith that it will happen against Millwall.”
