Primaries in Rotherhithe have warned parents to be extra careful about letting their children walk to school alone, after an eleven-year-old was robbed by a man wielding a knife in broad daylight.
The secondary school pupil was walking past the primary school when approached by the robber outside at around 8am on Thursday November 8.
The suspect asked the unnamed child for the time – before pulling out a knife and demanding he hand over his phone.
The knife-carrying thug ran off after stealing the phone and has not yet been traced.
The primary school, outside which the incident took place, has since sent out a letter to parents and carers informing them of the robbery and asked parents to give signed notification if their child walks to school on their own.
Other nearby primaries are also understood to have sent out letters reassuring parents and carers.
The police told the News that despite officers’ efforts they were not able to find the robber.
A Met Police said police were called at around 8.13am but added: “The area was searched by officers but the phone wasn’t recovered.”
Police inquiries are still ongoing and no arrests have been made.
