JOHN Marquis and Lee Gregory have backed their injured strike partner Aiden O’Brien to come back stronger from his injury.
The 21-year-old has been ruled out for up to six weeks with ruptured ankle ligaments suffered in the draw with Wimbledon on Saturday.
And the attacking duo have both given O’Brien their backing to return to playing sooner rather than later after the academy graduate was stretchered off.
“It isn’t good timing for Aiden,” Marquis said. “Unfortunately, it’s all apart of football he will come back better and hopefully he can come back stronger.
“When he does come back he will appreciate being back involved and with the boys.
“Myself, I’ve been injured for long periods before, it isn’t nice being in the treatment room everyday.
“He will really appreciate it all when he’s back on the pitch scoring goals again.”
Gregory added: “It’s a shame, especially in pre-season nobody one wants to get injured.
“Hopefully it isn’t as bad as everyone has read and he will be back on the pitch soon.
“He’s a good lad, he’ll definitely come back stronger, hopefully after getting the results now, he knows exactly what it is, and, like I’ve said, I hope it isn’t as bad as it looks.”
