GARY Rowett is remaining tight-lipped on Millwall’s interest in Wigan Athletic striker Kieffer Moore.
Wales international Moore, 27, is attracting attention from a number of Championship clubs including Cardiff, Middlesbrough and Preston, while QPR have reportedly had a £2.1 million bid accepted for him.
Rowett wants to add a forward to his squad in the next transfer window, which opens on Monday.
The Latics will be relegated from the Championship if an appeal against a 12-point deduction for entering administration is unsuccessful.
Wigan reportedly paid Barnsley £2.5million last summer for Moore, who has two goals in five games for Wales.
Moore (above, in action this season against Millwall) scored 10 goals in 36 league games for Wigan last season, including in their 1-1 draw against Fulham on the final day on Wednesday.
The 6ft5ins forward scored 23 goals in 55 games for Barnsley and 13 in 25 appearances for Rotherham, whom he joined from Ipswich.
Rowett was asked about Moore after the 4-1 win over Huddersfield that secured the Lions an eighth-place finish in the 2019-20 season.
“There’s a lot of players that we are interested in, a lot of good players we are interested in,” Rowett said.
“We need more goals in the group, not just in the team but in the group, that’s obviously an area we are focussing on.
“Like any deal we keep working hard to see where any of them go.”
Rowett was also asked generally about recruiting players that will fit with the club’s ethos.
He said: “When you are trying to add players with a bit more quality in certain areas you have to make sure it doesn’t affect the dynamic of the group, which is so important, especially here. The dynamic of the group is vital to the club. We have to get that right.
“But we have to try and make the team better and in order to do that we are going to have to take a gamble in one or two areas and mix it up a bit.”
