GARY Rowett is enjoying the fact that he has the bulk of his squad available in one of the busiest periods of the Championship season.
The Lions are only missing Ryan Leonard at the moment, with the versatile midfielder still sidelined after tearing his hamstring in August.
The likes of Mason Bennett, Tom Bradshaw and Shaun Hutchinson are match fit after recovering from their injuries earlier in the campaign, giving the Millwall boss a selection headache ahead of Saturday’s trip to Bristol City.
However, Rowett is delighted to be presented with such a dilemma in an incredibly busy month, especially considering the injury issues that his squad has faced over the course of his three-year tenure.
“I think everyone’s fine,” he told NewsAtDen.
“There’s the usual couple of niggles early in the week that we’ve just got to manage, but other than that, everyone’s got through.
“It’s really nice to have a big squad to pick from. It makes my job a lot harder, but in some ways that’s what you want, that’s what you need.
“Hopefully, touch wood, we can keep it that way. I think that’s the challenge in this division. I’ve been speaking to John [Berylson] all the time and he says that sometimes the healthier squads are the ones that end up challenging in the last bits of the season.
“What you can’t afford to do, particularly a team like us, is have two or three of our key players out and still perform to our maximum. Some squads can almost allow that to happen because of the amount of players they’ve got and the amount of options they’ve got.
“Hopefully it stays that way, but we’ve got a while until Saturday.”
